Many years ago, I lived in an apartment with a tin-roofed porch. I saved rainy days for reading and writing as the rain played me lullabyes. In my fantasy writing space, there's a tin roof, and a chaise lounge beneath, a stack of notebooks and a jar of pens the children don't borrow, an outlet for my laptop, and a big window so I can watch the rain come down...

Your artwork and photography are delicious. They've got me trying to invent something I'd need invitations for...maybe Rain on a Tin Roof Day...

This is lovely. Reminds me of where I used to go camping in Upstate New York. I think my next adventure will be apartment hunting in NYC. It's an odyssey all its own.

Thank you so much for commenting, Chip. How interesting! Chapman is actually my maiden name. I really don't know a whole lot about my lineage, though, so I have no clue if they could be connected to the area.

My name is Chip Tuttle----- But my real name is Francis Chapman Tuttle Jr.
My Chapmans were from the Charleston,SC area until the early 1800's!
They then ended up in Ludowici, Georgia ( below Savannah)
I'm curious if you're husband knows anything about his lineage?
Is his family from the Charleston area?

Emily, I nearly always have a Moleskine on hand, too. One for sketching and one for journaling/writing. I started with the little pocket ones but now I usually use the next step up. I did find one of my old ones the other day, though and forgot how handy they were.

I definitely understand what it means to be homesick--- after visiting the US for a month, it was hard to come back to Singapore! And as for your alone time-- I am terribly jealous. I don't get to enjoy much quiet (only when the little one is napping) and even then I tend to be bogged down with work. I love the idea of just lazily sitting in a coffee shop. Maybe I will give Lukus some daddy-daughter time and do that on his next off day!

I definitely know how it is to be homesick. When I was finishing up college and about to move back to Long Island, I was craving the beach so bad. I was craving home. But Charleston looks like such a lovely place. I'll have to visit :)

I recently cleaned out a large part of my closet to donate some things to a friend's adoption fundraiser garage sale. One of the many things I found was a purse I had bought when I went on a trip to Florida last year with my mom and aunt. It still had some sand in it, as well as a few found shells I had forgotten about. They went in with my own collection of ocean treasures!

I have been in one or two up in North Carolina when I was younger. They are sooo cool! Folly is the beach closest to where we currently live. It isn't my favorite, but the atmosphere is pretty great and its only 15min down the road. Hope you get to visit the area and have more time to explore. There's sooo much to see and do. Have you looked into the Angel Oak??

Wow, thank you so much, Dawn! I'm so glad you stopped by to visit and look around at my stuff. This weeks started off chilly but today was really warm and it should stay that way for the next few days. Our winter has definitely not been as bad as you all up north, but I'm still sooo ready for beach weather. :)

My two best friends and I will be taking a road trip this summer, and
South Carolina is one of the states we plan to go to. Seeing these
photos makes me so eager to travel! The photo with all the trees is so
stunning; I wish I could be there! I didn't know that so few lighthouses
were open to the public. However, I have been to Folly Beach! When I
was in college, my boyfriend and I passed through that area on spring
break and spent some time on the beach. It was St. Patrick's Day, and it
also happened to be raining. There is a picture of me standing in the
ocean with my winter coat on, haha.

Blech--this winter has been terrible! I live in Indianapolis, and we had
some gorgeous days earlier this week (60-degree weather), but the last
couple of days, it has cooled off and we've gotten some snow. We're just
in that weird time of year, when the weather can't decide whether it
wants to be warm or bone-chilling. That aside, I hope you were able to
get the internship! I love your illustration work, and I'm a fan of your
illustrious invitations, too.
